Working vs. Working Passionately

Personal Growth
There are many reasons why this happens even to the best of us. Society is one of these reasons—and perhaps one of the most influential ones. Simply put, what others do, we do. What others want, we want. It's human nature, and it's part of our personal growth. Of course, we are all different and the percentage varies from person to person. We ALL imitate and compare ourselves to others to some extent and on different occasions and situations along our lives. But the point is that instead of letting ourselves go with the flow of life, we sometimes would rather walk others' path—interrupting our course in life, and ultimately getting off track of our real purpose in life. By the way, have you ever thought what's your purpose in life?
In my opinion—and generally speaking, a working individual (in any professional field) cannot be compared to a person who works passionately. What do I mean by this? Have you ever gone to a professional who, independently of how many diplomas and certifications he/she has achieved along his/her life, you still felt that “something” was missing? Or, have you ever done something that simply wasn't “your thing”? Again, don't get me wrong; many non-passionate professionals are really good at what they do. They simply do it, whatever it is, as a routine. And many jobs that we had, or still have, are good and rewarding as well. A great explanation for this is Robin Williams' movie “Patch Adams.” If you have watched it, then you surely know what I'm talking about.
What's your purpose in life? Well, that's a simple question and has a simple answer: as long as you spend your life doing what makes you radiant, what makes you smile all the time, and what makes you feel good, then you have found your real purpose. Like everything in life, this will take time and experience—unless you are the son/daughter of a billionaire.
Something that really helped me to figure all this out, was to ask myself questions like these:
Do I look forward to go to work every day?
Am I stimulated by my daily endeavors and challenged to grow further?
Am I helping or encouraging others to do better in life through my work?
Are you living a stress-free life?
Do you believe in the true powers to do anything you want in life that are already within you?
